A triploid hybrid from the Nules clementine and tetraploid Avana mandarin, obtained in the 1990s at the CRA in Acireale, and deriving from a study begun in 1978.
The tree is similar to the Avana mandarin but thorny, especially the more vigorous branches. The fruit is medium sized, pale orange, and easy to peel. It usually ripens between December and January. The flavour is a mixture of Avana mandarin and clementine.
