This cultivar is grown on the island of Kikaijima in east Amami-Oshima, in the prefecture of Kagoshima, in Japan. It is quite resistant to cold weather. In “Citrologia” (1961) Professor Tanaka of the University of Osaka described the tree as leafy, almost thornless, with oblong fruits with rough rind, and slightly tart, sweet flesh. On a trip to Japan W.P. Bitters (1963) described the flavour as similar to a tangelo. The fruit is yellow or brownish-yellow in colour.
