Its cultivation started to take off from the beginning of the last century and it became widespread not only in Florida, but also in California, Texas, Arizona, South America, Australia, South Africa, India, and Israel, where the fruit is marketed with the Jaffa brand. The yellow fruit is roundish with pale, juicy flesh. It is seedless and holds well on the tree even after ripening, which is fairly late. Today the Marsh cultivar is considered the quintessential grapefruit on the international markets. The thornless plant is fairly vigorous and constantly productive. However, it is sensitive to cold, with small, dark marks appearing on the fruit if the temperature drops to around 3 °C.
