In 1839 Gallesio described it as “the most agreeable of all lemons, with thin, aromatic rind enclosing abundant juice and tangy sourness”. The medium sized plant has irregular branches with small, sharp thorns, and oval or oblong bright green leaves with slightly winged petiole. The small, white flowers are very fragrant. The small, oval fruit has a small nipple, sometimes with a style at the apex. The fruit is yellowy-green with thin rind tightly attached to the juicy flesh which is pleasantly tart and seedless. It is a little less sensitive to the cold than the Mexican lime.
</oembed>
