The variety from which it originated is a negative mutation of the common Tarocco blood orange, which produces fruit with vesicles with a very low juice content. Nucellar propagation eliminated the negative characteristics of the variety of origin, replacing them with completely new positive ones. The obovoid fruit has slightly pebbled rind of medium thickness and juicy, seedless, bright red flesh.
