It is a vigorous plant, with fairly assurgent growth and an irregular canopy. The leaves are medium-large, and ovate-elliptic in shape. The plant flowers mainly in spring and autumn, and has purple buds which usually grow singly. The fruit is oblong or pear-shaped, larger than a lemon, with a pronounced neck at the base and a prominent nipple at the apex. The rind is thick, wrinkled and pale yellow. In winter this plant tends to lose its leaves but remains interesting from an ornamental point of view.
