The tree is small, assurgent, with very thin branches and narrow lanceolate leaves, and tends to alternate fruit production. The rounded fruit is about 80mm in diameter, with pronounced flattened shape and few seeds. It is widespread in southern China, the Philippines (where it is called Batangas) and in south-east Asia. In India it is known as Nangpur Suntara. The fruit ripens in mid-season. It is relatively unknown in Italy, although it is the most widely grown mandarin in the world.
