In 1839 Gallesio wrote “This is also a citron, but distinct from the others due to its extremely small size and unusual shape”. The plant is medium-small and bushy, with assurgent growth. The small, dentate leaves are an unusual spatulate shape with mucronate apex. The buds are slightly purplish and grow mainly singly. The fruit is typically small and pear-shaped with a persistent style at the top until ripe. The pale yellow rind is thick, soft and fragrant, and the flesh has fairly pleasant, acidic juice.
</oembed>
