Tanaka in 1923. A nucellar selection was produced by the Institute of Arboreal Cultivation at Catania University. It has been known in Italy for less than ten years, but is the most widespread cultivar in Japan. The tree is spreading in habit, not vigorous but highly productive. It flowers late and produces parthenocarpic seedless, spherical fruit of medium weight (100g). The flesh is juicy and soft, with a tart rather than sweet flavour. In Sicily the fruit ripens from mid-September to early October, and the flesh is ripe before the skin changes colour. Interesting due to its extraordinarily precocious production, its availability is limited to about one month.
