The tree is particularly productive and semi-vigorous, with the canopy growing more upward than outward. The branches are thornless and the new shoots and flowers tinged with purple. The Cerza lemon is characterized by its deep green leaves with delicate petiole that is easily damaged by the wind. The medium-sized fruit is oval with bright yellow, coarse-grained rind of medium thickness. The very acidic, yellow flesh is fairly juicy and completely seedless. The fruit generally starts to ripen in late November.
