The tree is not especially vigorous or compact in habit, with short thorns and fairly small deep green leaves, slightly dentate. It is remontant, producing small white flowers. The elliptic-rounded fruit is quite small with thin rind and very juicy flesh. In cold climates, when the tree is dormant, the fruit tends to drop as soon as it changes colour. It is an ideal ornamental plant.
