The tree is fairly vigorous with rounded habit and spreading foliage with small, narrow, lanceolate leaves. The flowers are small, white and fragrant and grow singly on the branches. The fruit is smaller than the common mandarin, rounded with flattened ends, with thin rind that is loosely attached to the segments. The fruit is orange-coloured when ripe with reddish-orange, juicy, fragrant flesh with many seeds. It is a late ripener (February-April), fairly cold-hardy, and flowers in spring. It makes a good ornamental plant as the fruit remains at length on the tree. Alternate production can partly be avoided by removing most of the fruit in the month of January."}
