The fruit is oblong or round and fairly large with thin rind, which is sweet like the flesh, and few seeds. Swingle (1915) initially thought it was a pure cultivar, but later concluded that it was a natural hybrid of the round and oval kumquats. It is very good to eat fresh, and is widely grown in Chekiang (China) and Fukoka (Japan). The plant looks like a Nagami kumquat but is less resistant to the cold.
