The Mexican lime is the main lime cultivar, and the name derives from the fact that is its most widely grown in Mexico. The small, oval fruit has a slightly pronounced nipple and yellow-green rind when ripe, with greenish, very juicy flesh. The Mexican lime is sensitive to the cold, and is difficult to grow even in Sicily. In colder climates leaf and fruit-dropping can be avoided by keeping a tropical temperature inside the greenhouse.
