The tree is small to medium in size, productive and thornless. It originated spontaneously from the Doblefina blood orange around 1950. The fruit is similar to Doblefina, but larger, seedier, and often asymmetrical. The blood coloration of both rind and flesh is much deeper, making the fruit most attractive. It holds on the tree longer than Doblefina and stores even better. It is one of the darkest coloured blood oranges. The foliage is light green. \u201cSpanish Sanguinelli\u201d is the preferred name for this variety, in order to distinguish it from the Italian light blood group (singular Sanguinello, plural Sanguinelli). Its market reception has been excellent and it seems destined to replace most other Spanish blood oranges.  &nbsp;"}
