The fruits are dark yellow and easy to peel, while the pulp inside is bright red. They have few seeds and are juicy and sweet. They are found on the market from mid-winter until the beginning of the spring months. This variety was selected by Riverside University staff and was named Valentine because it ripens around Valentine's Day in mid-February and because a cross section of its red pulp often appears heart-shaped. Its origin is a hybrid of Dancy mandarin and Ruby blood orange crossed with a \"Siamese Sweet\" pomelo, which gives a sweet flavor, red pulp and complex flavor."}
