The earliest mention of this variety dates from 1421 and the plant is believed to have originated in Pamplona (Spain).
The fruit is flattened (hence its alternative name of Bouquetier de Nice a Fruits Plats, with thick rind and an irregular shape. Sometimes it is double, with a secondary fruit embedded in the primary one. The white flowers are small and double, while the plant is of medium vigour, with dense, spreading foliage.
