A thornless selection of the Mexican lime. This is a small tree with irregular branches. The leaves are small, elliptic or oval in shape, and pale green, and the flowers are small and white. The fruit is small, oval with a slightly pronounced navel, thin yellow-green rind when ripe, and green, juicy flesh. Mexican lime trees are sensitive to cold, and difficult to grow even in Sicily. In colder climates leaf and fruit-dropping can be avoided by keeping a tropical temperature inside the greenhouse. If this is not possible in winter, the tree will however start to produce foliage again in the spring, flowering and bearing fruit even on the older branches.
